Coming off of a five-gane road trip that started out 3-0 and ended with back-to-back losses, the Kings are likely seeing their glass as simultaneously half-full and half-empty.
While team defense and goaltending continues to be a work in progress early in the season, there was at least some momentum in one area last time out — Trevor Moore. After being one of the most consistent LA players over the second half of 2021-22, his line with Phil Danault and Viktor Arvidsson had been a little slow to get going through the first six games. However, Moore came away with a pair of assists and was a plus-3 vs. Washington on Saturday.
Turning his attention to Tuesday’s game vs. the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning, Moore has yet to record a point against the Eastern Conference juggernaut in five career games. Meanwhile, Arvidsson has been nearly a point-per-game player against the Lightning – with 12 points in 17 games, including 7 goals. Danault has 10 points (3G, 7A) in 21 career games when facing Tampa Bay.
Getting and keeping that second line going will be key to coach Todd McLellan leading his team to a turnaround during this week’s three-game homestand.
Oh, and that Austin Wagner call-up and quick return to Ontario? We broke that all down here.
While many are still waiting to see when Jaret Anderson-Dolan will slide into the lineup this season, we at least have a clear update on rookie Brandt Clarke:
NOTE: The projection below is an early morning look at things. Tuesday’s pregame skate is slated for 10:30am at TSPC. If there are any changes, this article will be updated. The morning skate ended up being an optional one, so little lineup info could get gleaned. Yet, during his media scrum, McLellan indicated one lineup change is possible. That would be Sean Walker in for Alex Edler… or JAD making his season debut.
