Entering Game 2 of LA’s 2022-23 NHL season, a classic expression would certainly fit — If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
Kings coach Todd McLellan recently shared a slightly different sentiment and it may be slightly more applicable…
Maybe Todd was right.
Maybe Game 1 doesn't matter.

Following an Opening Night loss to the visiting Vegas Golden Knights, McLellan and the Kings return to downtown LA for a second attempt at their first win of the young season. Expectations are, teenage rookie prospect, Brandt Clarke, will likely make his NHL debut.
In advance of Thursday’s morning skate, we’ve prepared a (perhaps way too early) projected lineup for game 2 vs. Seattle.

Additional Game Notes

Over on the Seattle side of things, here are a few additional items to pass along…
— The Kraken began their 2022-23 campaign with a 5-4 overtime loss in Anaheim on Wednesday night. Despite putting up 48 shots on goal (a team record) and holding a two-goal lead early in the third period (courtesy of rookie Matty Beniers), it still wasn’t enough. “We’ve just got to figure out how to close out those games,” Beniers said following the disappointed loss.
— Former Kings goalie Martin Jones will return to face his former team.
#SeaKraken coach Dave Hakstol confirms Martin Jones starts in goal against his first NHL team here in LA tonight. Forward Morgan Geekie will be in the lineup too after healthy scratch Wednesday night.

— After earning universal praise for their initial pair of home and road jerseys, the Kraken may be going for the fashion trifecta if in fact this rumored Reverse Retro is what they go with this season:
The Seattle Kraken are known to be using a old team not named the Metropoltians. I believe (not confirmation) that they will throw it back to 1951 to the Seattle Ironmen in this concept.@orionataylor pic.twitter.com/IG4yvcqc1Q
