Once again, it’s time for our weekly recap of what’s been happening in the AHL with LA’s prospects.
The following reports are from games played through end of day Sunday, October 16th.
ONTARIO REIGN (AHL)
Due to the Ontario Reign featuring a large volume of LA Kings prospects this season, each tracker will feature a select number of them on a rotating basis – largely culled from key performances for the prior week.
The Reign exploded for eight goals in their season opener against the Canucks, having eight different scorers and 13 different players recording at least a point. The next match would be another one-goal dogfight with the Condors, a 3-2 loss.
Lias Andersson, Center (7th overall in 2017)
2022-2023 Stats: 1 goal, 2 assists, plus-2, 4 PIM in 2 games played
Andersson is sticking with his point-per-game production in the AHL that he has had since coming to the Kings organization. He already has three points on the young season.

Samuel Fagemo, Left/Right Wing (50th overall in 2019)
2022-2023 Stats: 3 goals, 0 assists, plus-2, 2 PIM in 2 games played
Fagemo is stepping into his role early this season, leading the Reign with three goals, two of which would be the only goals the Reign would score against the Condors. While one of his goals was scored by picking up loose change in front of the net, two of them came from a one-timer from the left circle, a favorite scoring spot of his.

Akil Thomas, Center (51st overall in 2018)
2022-2023 Stats: 1 goals, 1 assists, plus-3, 0 PIM in 2 games played
Akil Thomas is already off to a promising start as opposed to last season, having a goal and an assist in the season opener. Centering the third line, he saw time on the penalty kill and the powerplay.

Helge Grans, RH Defenseman (35th overall in 2020)
2022-2023 Stats: 1 goal, 1 assist, plus-3, 0 PIM in 2 games played
Grans scored the go-ahead goal and eventual game-winner against the Canucks with a rocket of a wrist shot sent from well above the circles that found the top right corner of the net. He would also add an assist in that game.

Jordan Spence, RH Defenseman (95th overall in 2019)
2022-2023 Stats: 0 goals, 3 assists, plus-4, 0 PIM in 2 games played
Spence picked up right where he left off last season, quickly jumping out as a defensive-scoring frontrunner with three assists in the opening match of the season. Two of those would come as the first powerplay unit’s quarterback.
