In a move that caught many off guard, the Kings recalled goaltending prospect Matt Villalta to the NHL roster on an emergency basis.
Mayor’s Manor editor John Hoven reported this was done for precautionary reasons.
ROSTER NEWS
LA Kings have recalled goaltender Matt Villalta, told it's as a "precautionary" measure.
Nothing to be alarmed about.
Meanwhile, Ontario Reign play Game 2 tonight in Colorado. Assuming David Hrenak will start that game. Awaiting more info.

An in-depth scouting report on Villalta can be found at the link below.
On Wednesday, Villalta was pulled in the first period of Game 1 between the Ontario Reign and Colorado Eagles. He was later reinserted into the game, eventually giving up a total of seven goals in a game the Reign ultimately lost 10-1. That series resumes tonight in Colorado – obviously, without Villalta.
Kings prospect Alex Turcotte will also be missing Game 2 for the Reign, more on that can be found in today’s Projected Lineup article.
