With the regular season winding down, it’s been a razon thin margin between Stockton and Ontario, the Pacific Division’s top two teams.
They’ll close out their home-and-home battle this weekend with the Reign looking for a victory following a shootout loss in Northern California on Friday night. It was the third time this season the Reign and Heat needed more than three periods to decide an outcome — with Stockton claiming all three wins. Further, four of Stockton’s five wins in the season set have been by one goal. They hold a 5-2 edge over Ontario through seven games. How close have things been? The combined score for those contests is 25-24; again, with Stockton holding the slim advantage.
Martin Frk had the best look in overtime on Friday:

Despite leading the Reign in goals this season, he has only managed to find the back of the net just once vs. Stockton in 2021-22.
Sunday will also be the annual ‘Kings Day’ in Ontario. The Reign will wear their own version of the Kings new white alternate sweaters, featuring an updated take on the team’s classic Gretzky-era jerseys. However, Ontario’s kit will not feature the chrome helmets.
