LA Kings Weekly Prospect Tracker, Week Ending April 17, 2022

It’s time to take a lap around the globe and check in on the LA Kings prospects playing in various leagues. The following reports are for games played through end of day Sunday, April 17th.

ONTARIO REIGN (AHL)

Due to the Ontario Reign featuring a large volume of LA Kings prospects this season, each tracker will feature a select number of them on a rotating basis – largely culled from key performances for the prior week.

The Reign handed the San Diego Gulls three straight losses this week.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Center (41st overall in 2017)

2021-2022 Stats: 22 goals, 23 assists, plus-10, 51 PIM in 50 games played

JAD picked up an assist on the powerplay.

Aiden Dudas, Center (113th overall in 2018)

2021-2022 Stats: 10 goals, 13 assists, plus-7, 16 PIM in 57 games played

Dudas’ breakout pass earned him a secondary assist on Nelson Nogier’s goal in the last game of the week.

Samuel Fagemo, Left/Right Wing (50th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 27 goals, 16 assists, plus-18, 36 PIM in 59 games played

Fagemo assisted on Ward’s opening goal in the second game against San Diego.

Samuel Helenius, LIIGA-JYP, Center (59th overall in 2021)

2021-2022 Stats
AHL-Ontario: 1 goal, 0 assists, minus-1, 4 PIM in 8 games played
LIIGA-JYP: 3 goals, 6 assists, minus-7, 76 PIM in 48 games played
SM-Sarja-JYP U20: 0 goals, 1 assist, plus-1, 0 PIM in 1 game played

Helenius scored his first goal in the AHL, redirecting a pass into the net to put Ontario up 2-1 over the Gulls in the last game of the week.

Akil Thomas, Center (51st overall in 2018)

2021-2022 Stats: 4 goals, 4 assists, minus-6, 13 PIM in 36 games played

Thomas earned a primary assist, cutting back after entering the attacking zone and sending a pass to find a streaking Nogier, who scored.

Taylor Ward, Right Wing (FA signing in 2022)

AHL-Ontario: 3 goals, 6 assists, plus-9, 9 PIM in 12 games played
NCAA-Univ. Nebraska-Omaha: 19 goals, 20 assists, even plus/minus, 39 PIM in 38 games played

Ward had himself another great week in professional hockey, scoring two goals, adding a primary assist.

David Hrenak, St. Cloud State, Goalie (144th overall in 2018)

2021-2022 Stats:
AHL-Ontario: 0 GAA, 1.00 SV% in 1 game played
NCAA-Saint Cloud St.: 2.25 GAA, .914 SV % in 31 games played

Hrenak made a mark in his first professional game, stopping all 25 San Diego shots to earn his first professional shutout and win.

Matt Villalta, Goalie (72nd overall in 2017)

2021-2022 Stats: 2.86 GAA, .906 SV % in 43 games played

Villalta only allowed three goals on 54 shots across two games, both wins.

ECHL

Lukas Parik, Goalie (87th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats
AHL-Ontario: 3.77 GAA, .881 SV % in 5 games played
ECHL-Rapid City: 2.69 GAA, .915 SV % in 16 games played

Parik stopped 50 of 53 shots for a .943 SV % in two games, winning one of them. His win in the first game clinched a playoff spot for the Rush.

CANADIAN JUNIOR HOCKEY

OHL

Brandt Clarke, Barrie Colts, RH Defenseman (8th overall in 2021)

2021-2022 Stats: 11 goals, 48 assists, plus-11, 29 PIM in 55 games played

The OHL season ended before Clarke was able to return from injury. He is listed as day-to-day and could return for the Colt’s first-round matchup against Mississauga.

Martin Chromiak, Kingston Frontenacs, Left Wing (128th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 44 goals, 42 assists, plus-15, 8 PIM in 60 games played

Chromiak had his scoring streak end and went pointless in the Fronts last three games of the week. The Frontenacs will face the Oshawa Generals in the first round.

Francesco Pinelli, Kitchener Rangers, Center (42nd overall in 2021)

2021-2022 Stats: 22 goals, 38 assists, plus-4, 31 PIM in 55 games played

Pinelli only played in two games this week, adding an assist in each of them. Kitchener was able to squeeze into the playoffs and will play the London Knights in the first round.

BCHL

Braden Doyle, Penticton Vees, LH Defenseman (157th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats
BCHL-Penticton: 3 goals, 24 assists, 10 PIM in 27 games played
2022 Playoffs: 0 goals, 2 assists, 2 PIM in 7 games played

NCAA-Boston Univ.: 0 goals, 1 assist, even plus/minus, 0 PIM in 8 games played

Penticton advanced over the Trail Smoke and took a 2-0 series lead over Prince George. Doyle added an assist in that series.

COLLEGE HOCKEY (NCAA)

Alex Laferriere, Harvard Univ., Right Wing (83rd overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 14 goals, 17 assists, plus-13, 12 PIM in 35 games played

Laferriere is in his offseason.

Brock Faber, Univ. of Minnesota, RH Defenseman (45th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats
NCAA-Minnesota Univ.: 2 goals, 12 assists, plus-8, 2 PIM in 32 games played
Olympic Games-USA: 0 goals, 1 assist, plus-2, 2 PIM in 4 games played

Faber has decided to return to the Gophers for his junior season.

Ben Meehan, UMass-Lowell, LH Defenseman (140th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 5 goals, 9 assists, plus-8, 54 PIM in 33 games played

Meehan is in his offseason.

VARIOUS EUROPEAN LEAGUES

Aatu Jämsen, Finland, Right Wing (190th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats
SM-Sarja-Pelicans U20: 5 goals, 11 assists, plus-12, 6 PIM in 10 games played
2022 Playoffs: 2 goals, 1 assist, minus-5, 0 PIM in 3 games played

LIGGA-Pelicans: 1 goal, 5 assists, minus-2, 8 PIM in 34 games played
Mestis-Peliitat: 4 goals, 4 assists, plus-3, 4 PIM in 7 games played

Kasper Simontaival, LIIGA-KalPa, Center (66th overall in 2020)

Jamsen is in his offseason.

2021-2022 Stats: 7 goals, 7 assists, minus-2, 14 PIM in 36 games played

Simontaival is in his offseason.

Johan Södergran, DEL-Eisbaren Berlin, Right Wing (165th overall in 2018)

2021-2022 Stats:
DEL-Eisbaren: 1 goal, 3 assists, minus-2, 2 PIM in 7 games played
AHL-Ontario: 3 goals, 0 assists, even plus/minus, 0 PIM in 7 games played

Sodergran did not play this week. Eisbaren is due to face Adler Mannheim in the semi-finals of the DEL playoffs.

Kirill Kirsanov, KHL-SKA St. Petersburg, LH Defenseman (84th overall in 2021)

2021-2022 Stats

MHL-SKA 1946: 1 goal, 2 assists, plus-3, 2 PIM in 3 games played
2022 Playoffs: 1 goal, 0 assists, even plus/minus, 2 PIM in 3 games played

VHL-SKA-Neva: 1 goal, 2 assists, plus-4, 0 PIM in 3 games played
2022 Playoffs: 3 goals, 1 assist, plus-3, 2 PIM 14 games played
KHL-SKA: 0 goals, 4 assists, plus-6, 4 PIM in 24 games played

Kirsanov took his talent back to the MHL, Russia’s top junior league, returning just in time to help SKA 1946 close out their playoff series over Ibris to advance to the finals. The blueliner scored the opening goal of the elimination game, which would hold up as the game-winner. 1946 and Krasnaya Armiya split the first two games of the MHL finals.

Juho Markkanen, Switzerland, Goalie (112th overall in 2020)

National League-Lugano: 4.25 GAA, .922 SV % in 3 games played
SL-Ticino Rockets: 3.96 GAA, .869 GAA in 2 game played
Elit-Lugano U20: 1.00 GAA in 1 game played
LIIGA-SaiPa: 3.27 GAA, .873 SV % in 15 games played
SM-Sarja-SaiPa U20: 5.67 GAA, .790 SV % in 3 games played
