With a decidedly different lineup in Seattle on Tuesday night, the Kings picked up another victory and are now up to 98 points.
STATS CHECK
LA Kings have 98 points, if they win their final regular season game tomorrow, they'll end 2021-22 with 100 points.
100-pt LAK teams:
74-75 105 points
90-91 102 points
09-10 101 points
13-14 100 points
15-16 102 points— The Mayor | John Hoven (@mayorNHL) April 28, 2022
To reach 100, coach Todd McLellan is expected to once again roll out a slightly reconfigured look.
Following a game where Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown, Alex Iafallo, Adrian Kempe, and Alex Edler sat out, many of those players — if not all of them — are expected to play in Game 82 vs. Vancouver. Coming on the second night of a back-to-back, the Kings didn’t have a morning skate, so we may not have more details on an exact lineup until late this afternoon.
Below is directionally correct on the players; with their line/pairing assignments somewhat of a guesstimate. With the news becoming official earlier today regarding Dustin Brown’s impending retirement, perhaps McLellan reunites him with Kopitar for one more game tonight.
Thursday night will be Brown’s 1,296th and final regular season game in a Kings uniform. He’s in his franchise-record 18th NHL season and is just three goals away from passing Bernie Nicholls for fifth place in Kings franchise history.
There's likely one more component to the Dustin Brown retirement news that should reveal itself tonight around 630pm.
Many of you are going to Cry (happy tears — it's a good thing, not a bad thing). Get your tissue ready.
