The extended home cooking continues for Ontario, who are in a stretch where they’ll play eight of nine games at Toyota Arena. All has gone well so far, as the Reign have won three straight since returning to SoCal last month, and have actually come out on top seven times in their most recent eight games. Just prior to that run, they lost to the Condors in Bakersfield.
Kings goaltending prospect Jacob Ingham started that game. He gave up five goals on 17 shots before being replaced by Matt Villalta — who stopped all 12 shots he faced that night and will be back in net tonight.
During the season series with Bakersfield, that was the Condors lone regulation win over Ontario. The Reign hold a potent 4-1-1 record vs. the Edmonton Oilers top affiliate thus far, with tonight and next Thursday the only two remaining on the regular season schedule.
Lias Andersson is expected to wrap up his AHL conditioning assignment following Monday night’s game. In three contests with the Reign, he’s potted five goals — at least one in each game. Can he do it again on Monday? He’ll skate alongside Gabe Vilardi and Akil Thomas, as he has been during this recent stint.
For more on the situation with Vilardi and Andersson, be sure to check out the latest Kings Of The Podcast episode that was just released (linked below for your convenience).
