LA Kings Weekly Prospect Tracker, Week Ending February 14, 2022

It’s time to take a lap around the globe and check in on the LA Kings prospects playing in various leagues. The following reports are for games played through end of day Sunday, February 13th.

ONTARIO REIGN (AHL)

Due to the Ontario Reign featuring a large volume of LA Kings prospects this season, each tracker will feature a select number of them on a rotating basis – largely culled from key performances for the prior week.

The Reign saddled up for a back-to-back battle against the Stockton Heat for the rights to first place in the Western Conference. The Reign took game one 5-2 but fell short next game in the shootout, 6-5, which allowed Stockton to maintain first place.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Center (41st overall in 2017)

2021-2022 Stats: 17 goals, 14 assists, plus-6, 27 PIM in 33 games played

JAD was active in both games, scoring in the first and picking up two primary assists in the second.

Samuel Fagemo, Left/Right Wing (50th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 15 goals, 7 assists, plus-16, 15 PIM in 34 games played

In the second game, Fagemo scored on the powerplay with a one-timer that trickled in.

Rasmus Kupari, Center ( 20th overall in 2018)

2021-2022 Stats: 2 goals, 0 assists, even plus/minus, 4 PIM in 4 games played

Kupari scored his first two goals of the season in the second game. Both of his goals would pull the Reign even with the Heat and ensure at least a point for the Reign.

Tyler Madden, Center (68th overall in 2018)

2021-2022 Stats: 12 goals, 14 assists, plus-1, 12 PIM in 37 games played

Madden had a four-point week, scoring a goal and three assists. He was named First Star of the Game in the opening match.

Akil Thomas, Center (51st overall in 2018) 

2021-2022 Stats: 0 goals, 1 assist, minus-1, 5 PIM in 12 games played

Thomas picked up his first point of the season, a secondary assist on Madden’s opening goal in the first game.

Alex Turcotte, Center (5th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 6 goals, 12 assists, plus-18, 20 PIM in 26 games played

Turcotte had two assists in the first game, including the primary on the game winner.

Helge Grans, RH Defenseman (35th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 5 goals, 10 assists, plus-10, 2 PIM in 33 games played

In the first game, Grans sent a rocket off the goalies mask which rebounded behind the net which Grans caught up with and shot it off the back of the goalie to bank it into the net.

Jacob Moverare, LH Defenseman (112th overall in 2016)

2021-2022 Stats: 3 goals, 7 assists, plus-6, 8 PIM in 28 games played]

In the second game, Moverare had the primary assist on Kupari’s late game-tying goal.

Jordan Spence, RH Defenseman (95th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 2 goals, 28 assists, plus-14, 20 PIM in 36 games played

Spence added an assist in each game and is 10th in AHL rookie scoring.

Austin Strand, RH Defenseman (FA signing in 2017)

2021-2022 Stats: 3 goals, 3 assists, minus-5, 18 PIM in 20 games played

Strand scored the game-winner in the first game with a powerful slapshot that went into the left side of the net.

Matt Villalta, Goalie (72nd overall in 2017)

2021-2022 Stats: 2.63 GAA, .915 SV % in 22 games played

Villalta started in both games, allowing seven goals on a 85 shots. He was named Second Star of the Game for his 33 save effort in the first game.

ECHL

Lukas Parik, Rapid City Rush, Goalie (87th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats
AHL-Ontario: 3.50 GAA, .893 SV % in 4 games played
ECHL-Rapid City: 2.54 GAA, .923 SV % in 19 games played

Parik made 32 saves on 35 shots in his return to the ECHL, a 3-2 OT loss. Next game, a 4-3 loss, he was pulled after allowing four goals on 18 shots.

CANADIAN JUNIOR HOCKEY 

OHL

Brandt Clarke, Barrie Colts, RH Defenseman (8th overall in 2021)

2021-2022 Stats: 8 goals, 38 assists, plus-17, 16 PIM in 37 games played

Clarke celebrated his 19th birthday this week. Barrie lost both of its games played this week, where Clarke contributed two assists.

Martin Chromiak, Kingston Frontenacs, Left Wing (128th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 20 goals, 27 assists, plus-9, 0 PIM in 35 games played

Chromiak sustained an injury last week that has kept him out of play.

Francesco Pinelli, Kitchener Rangers, Center (42nd overall in 2021)

2021-2022 Stats: 13 goals, 20 assists, plus-4, 10 PIM in 30 games played

Pinelli remains out with a lower-body injury.

BCHL

Braden Doyle, Penticton Vees, LH Defenseman (157th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats
BCHL-Penticton: 1 goal, 13 assists, 4 PIM in 11 games played
NCAA-Boston Univ.: 0 goals, 1 assist, even plus/minus, 0 PIM in 8 games played

Doyle scored his first of the season, a game winner, in a 4-3 Penticton win. He would add an assist the following game, a 5-4 OT win.

COLLEGE HOCKEY (NCAA)

Alex Laferriere, Harvard Univ., Right Wing (83rd overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 12 goals, 10 assists, plus-10, 10 PIM in 23 games played

Following a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Boston Univ. in the 69th annual Beanpot tournament, Harvard defeated Yale 2-0, where Laferriere would add a primary assist and a goal. He would be given the Tim Taylor Cup as the most outstanding player of the annual Harvard-Yale game, hosted by Harvard.

Andre Lee, UMass-Lowell, LW/C (188th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 13 goals, 8 assists, plus-11, 48 PIM in 26 games played

The River Hawks has an unfortunate weekend, loosing both of their games. Lee picked up a secondary assist for his 21st point, eclipsing his 20-point career high that he set as a freshman.

Brock Faber, Univ. of Minnesota, RH Defenseman (45th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 2 goals, 9 assists, plus-4, 12 PIM in 24 games played

Faber has been an absolute minute-muncher for the undefeated Americans, leading the team with a TOI average of 24:25, over four minutes higher than the next skater. Faber is a plus-4, has an assist, and eight SOG across the three games USA has played.

Ben Meehan, UMass-Lowell, LH Defenseman (140th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 4 goals, 8 assists, plus-12, 48 PIM in 25 games played

Meehan had two SOG and was a minus-2 in this week’s games.

David Hrenak, St. Cloud State, Goalie (144th overall in 2018)

2021-2022 Stats: 2.29 GAA, .914 SV % in 24 games played

The Huskies had their first two games of the week end in ties before defeating Western Michigan 4-1. Hrenak had the start in all of three of the games, making 66 saves on 74 shots.

VARIOUS EUROPEAN LEAGUES

Samuel Helenius, LIIGA-JYP, Center (59th overall in 2021)

2021-2022 Stats
LIIGA-JYP: 1 goal, 5 assists, minus-7, 56 PIM in 34 games played
SM-Sarja-JYP U20: 0 goals, 1 assist, plus-1, 0 PIM in 1 game played

Helenius played in JYPs first of the week, where he skated for 15:24 in TOI and was a minus-3 in the 4-0 loss.

Aatu Jämsen, Finland, Right Wing (190th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats
LIGGA-Pelicans: 1 goal, 5 assists, even plus/minus, 6 PIM in 22 games played
Mestis-Peliitat: 4 goals, 4 assists, plus-3, 4 PIM in 7 games played
SM-Sarja-Pelicans U20: 5 goals, 11 assists, plus-12, 6 PIM in 10 games played

Jamsen skated in all three of the Pelicans games this week, averaging 10:23 in TOI and was a plus-1 with three shots.

Kasper Simontaival, LIIGA-KalPa, Center (66th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 3 goals, 5 assists, minus-5, 12 PIM in 24 games played

Simontaival skated in all three of KalPas games, where he averaged 9:39 in TOI and contributed five shots.

Kim Nousiainen, LIIGA-KalPa, LH Defenseman (119th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 3 goals, 4 assists, minus-6, 20 PIM in 20 games played

Nousiainen’s season continues to be riddled with injuries as he took a big hit to the head against Lukko, which kept him out of this week’s games.

Kirill Kirsanov, KHL-SKA St. Petersburg, LH Defenseman (84th overall in 2021)

2021-2022 Stats
KHL-SKA: 0 goals, 4 assists, plus-6, 4 PIM in 24 games played
VHL-SKA-Neva: 1 goal, 2 assists, plus-4, 0 PIM in 3 games played
MHL-SKA 1946: 1 goal, 2 assists, plus-3, 2 PIM in 3 games played

Kirsanov did not play this week but was given credit for an assist in a game he played in last week.

Juho Markkanen, Switzerland, Goalie (112th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats
U20 Elit-Lugano U20: 1.00 GAA in 1 games played
LIIGA-SaiPa: 3.27 GAA, .873 SV % in 15 games played
SM-Sarja-SaiPa U20: 5.67 GAA, .790 SV % in 3 games played

Markkanen has been loaned to HC Lugano of Switzerland’s National League and started with their U20 team, earning a win in his first game with only one goal against.
