Similar to their parent club, the LA Kings, Ontario currently sits second in the AHL’s Pacific Division. Over their last 10 games, the Reign have only lost twice in regulation.
Monday features a matinee game in their home arena, after winning both ends of a home-and-home series with the Silver Knights on Friday-Saturday.
Today’s game vs. the Canucks will mark the seventh time the clubs have squared off this season. The first pair of games took place early in the season in Ontario, with both teams claiming one victory. The next set was in Abbotsford, where the Reign came away victorious in both games. In their most recent set, again in Abbotsford, the Canucks claimed victories both nights.
Today’s game is a one-off event, and the two teams won’t see each other again until March 20.
With several Reign players up with the Kings for their road trip, Ontario continues to be somewhat shorthanded at forward. Even with Martin Frk cleared from protocol over the weekend, we’re hearing he will not play today. They’d like to give him some additional practice time this week.

Meanwhile, Quinton Byfield is hearing up. The Kings top prospect has now scored a goal in four of his past five games. Today will mark his 11th game played this season, after missing several months due to injury.
