LA Kings prospect Brock Faber was announced to the US Olympic team this afternoon by Team USA GM John Vanbiesbrouck.
With the NHL and NHLPA announcing their players were not allowed to play in the Olympics this year, it opened up the door to those without NHL contracts to play in Beijing next month. The Maple Grove, MN native is currently in his second year at the University of Minnesota, recording 11 points in 20 games played this season. This isn’t the first time that Faber has worn his country’s colors, as he was previously named to the last two World Junior Championship teams – including winning gold at the 2021 tournament.
Faber will be one of more than a dozen college hockey players going to Beijing, along with players who are playing professionally in European leagues. The United States opens up their tournament against China on February 12.
