If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.
That’s what our parents told us, right?
Originally drafted in the third round of the 2011 NHL Draft by Columbus, T.J. Tynan hasn’t had a chance to play very many NHL games — only 19, to be exact. He’ll make it 20 tonight in Edmonton.
Just prior to the Kings leaving Southern California for their brief two-game road trip to Canada, they learned Blake Lizotte was moved into protocol. That left them with less than 12 healthy forwards, so they called up Tynan and Jaret Anderson-Dolan (who could possibly play tomorrow night in Vancouver, pending the outcome of tonight’s game).
Tynan was signed by the Kings this past summer as a depth move, coming off an MVP season with AHL Colorado last year. Since turning pro in 2014, he’s bounced around with several teams, even winning a Calder Cup Championship in 2016 with the Lake Erie Monsters.
Want some fun facts?
— The 29-year-old Illinois native played for the same USHL team as Trevor Lewis, but missed him by two years.
— He graduated from Notre Dame in 2014, just missing Cal Petersen, who was on campus as a freshman the following year.
— John Madden (a recent Kings Of The Podcast guest, and Tyler’s dad) actually coached Tynan when he was with the Cleveland Monsters.
— And while Tynan played his first NHL road game in Buffalo, his first real road trip came years later with Colorado on a swing through Edmonton, Vancouver, and Winnipeg. Sort of like déjà vu all over again.
T.J. Tynan is expected to wear No. 36 when he debuts for the @LAKings tonight.

A FEW RELATED NOTES:
Byfield has officially been assigned to Ontario and is scheduled to suit up this week.
Follow up…
Did some checking with several of our sources this afternoon and there's optimism that Turcotte will only be sidelined for a short time.
As for Byfield, indications now are he'll probably play Tuesday (assuming everything goes well tomorrow at practice). https://t.co/3IMvlolpHG

Despite being without their three top centers last night (Turcotte, Tyanan, JAD), the Reign did get a nice shot in the arm when Akil Thomas and Christian Wolanin returned to the lineup. Vilardi scored in the shootout to give Ontario a nice victory in a game they had dominated for the first 45+ minutes.
Warmies live in Bako…
