LA Kings Weekly Prospect Tracker, Week Ending December 5, 2021

December 7, 2021 By Nick Lopez

It’s time to take a lap around the globe and check in on the LA Kings prospects playing in various leagues. The following reports are for games played through end of day Sunday, December 5th.

ONTARIO REIGN (AHL)

Due to the Ontario Reign featuring a large volume of LA Kings prospects this season, each tracker will feature a select number of them on a rotating basis – largely culled from key performances for the prior week.

The Reign had their first consecutive losses of the season, both dealt to them by the Abbotsford Canucks. They finished the week with a 3-2 SO win over the Bakersfield Condors.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Center (41st overall in 2017)

2021-2022 Stats: 5 goals, 8 assists, plus-6, 18 PIM in 16 games played

Before his call-up to the Kings at the tail-end of the week, JAD added a primary assist on a Frk powerplay goal.

2-0 #Reign Frk scores on the powerplay, his 10th of the season.

— Eric (@kingsgifs2) December 2, 2021

Quinton Byfield, Center (2nd overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 0 games played

Byfield has officially recovered from his injury and has been loaned to the Reign for a conditioning stint.

Byfield officially assigned to AHL Ontario…

But, of course, you already knew that was coming because you read about it earlier this week

His Reign season debut will possibly come Tuesday, but more likely Friday at this point. Turcotte situation has many things up in the air.

— The Mayor (@mayorNHL) December 5, 2021

Samuel Fagemo, Left/Right Wing (50th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 7 goals, 2 assists, plus-12, 2 PIM in 17 games played

Fagemo scored a goal in tight after receiving a Vilardi pass to put the Reign up 3-2 in the second game against the Canucks.

Tyler Madden, Center (68th overall in 2018)

2021-2022 Stats: 6 goals, 4 assists, plus-1, 8 PIM in 17 games played

Madden scored a goal in each of the last two games of the week. His first came from jamming home a rebound and his second from a tap in off a Vilardi feed.

Akil Thomas, Center/Right Wing (51st overall in 2018)

2021-2022 Stats: 0 goals, 0 assists, even plus/minus, 0 PIM in 1 game played.

Thomas was another to return from injury, skating as the second-line center and recording three shots on goal against the Condors in his season debut.

New: Akil Thomas activated and ready to return after lengthy recovery process https://t.co/pGiYMDLzmx

— LA Kings Insider (@lakingsinsider) December 3, 2021

Alex Turcotte, Center/Left Wing (5th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 3 goals, 7 assists, plus-10, 12 PIM in 16 games played

Unfortunately, when the injury bug hops off of one person it can sometimes find another. Turcotte did not play in the game against the Condors due to an injury. He picked up an assist earlier in the week on Vilardi’s goal.

Follow up…

Did some checking with several of our sources this afternoon and there's optimism that Turcotte will only be sidelined for a short time.

As for Byfield, indications now are he'll probably play Tuesday (assuming everything goes well tomorrow at practice). https://t.co/3IMvlolpHG

2021-2022 Stats: 2 goals, 5 assists, minus-1, 0 PIM in 14 games played

After being the final cut from camp last year, Grans is expected to play for Team Sweden at the World Juniors. He picked up an assist this week on Fagemo’s goal.

Jacob Moverare, LH Defenseman (112th overall in 2016)

2021-2022 Stats: 3 goals, 5 assists, plus-6, 4 PIM in  17 games played

Moverare scored after his shot through the crease was deflected in by a Canuck.

Turcotte makes it a 1 goal game with his 4th goal of the season!

Jordan Spence, RH Defenseman (95th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 0 goals, 8 assists, plus-7, 8 PIM in 16 games played

Spence picked up two assists this week.

Matt Villalta, Goalie (72 overall in 2017)

2021-2022 Stats: 2.72 GAA, .903 SV % in 10 games played

Villalta started in the first game against the Canucks, stopping 23 of 26 shots. He would earn the win against the Condors, stopping 28 of 30 shots and all three Condor shootout attempts.

Players not included: Aiden Dudas, Johan Södergran, Markus Phillips, and Austin Strand

ECHL

Jacob Ingham, Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Goalie (175th overall in 2018)

2021-2022 Stats
AHL-Ontario Reign: 1.85 GAA, .931 SV %, 1 assist in 1 game played
ECHL-Greenville: 3.05 GAA, .900 SV % in 8 games played

Ingham was able to secure a wild 7-6 OT win in his first game of the week. Fortune would not be on his side the next overtime period he played, stopping 22 shots in a 2-1 OT loss.

Lukas Parik, Rapid City Rush, Goalie (87th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 2.29 GAA, .926 SV % in 9 games played

Parik was fantastic in a 4-2 win over the Kansas City Mavericks, making 33 saves and picking up a 10-minute game misconduct. He would not fare so well in his second outing, saving 25 of 28 shots in a 4-2 loss.

Today's #AMIce features @RapidCityRush G Lukáš Pařík making one of his 33 saves during Tuesday night's victory at @kc_mavericks. It's a quick one but a good one! Make sure to check out #AMIce each morning for great #ECHL highlights. pic.twitter.com/ksdtZ8q7ht

— ECHL Week (@ECHLWeek) December 1, 2021

CANADIAN JUNIOR HOCKEY (OHL)

Brandt Clarke, Barrie Colts, RH Defenseman (8th overall in 2021)

2021-2022 Stats: 5 goals, 18 assists, plus-9, 4 PIM in 18 games played

Team Canada shocked many in the hockey world when they excluded Clarke, the OHL points per game leader by a wide margin, from their roster.

Clarke just got Toffoli'd.

TT73 went through the same thing. Leading goal scorer in the OHL back then and was left behind 2 years in a row.

Anybody can argue Canada invited better Dmen to camp (that's what Twitter is for). Yet, very difficult to state there are 6 better Dmen. https://t.co/QPMUrjGfBc

— The Mayor (@mayorNHL) November 30, 2021

Martin Chromiak, Kingston Frontenacs, Left Wing (128th overall in 2020)

2021-2022 Stats: 13 goals, 14 assists, plus-4, 2 PIM in 20 games played

After being selected to attend Team Slovakia’s World Juniors camp, Chromiak potted five goals across three Fronts wins. After being one of Slovakia’s more dangerous players in last year’s tournament, he has a strong chance of making the roster.

Francesco Pinelli, Kitchener Rangers, Center (42nd overall in 2021)

2021-2022 Stats: 7 goals, 15 assists, plus-4, 6 PIM in 19 games played

Pinelli scored the final goal for the Rangers in a 5-3 win over the Sarnia Sting. After taking a hit on the boards to get the puck to a teammate, he opened up for a pass back which he took off of his skate and cruised into the slot before releasing a wrist shot into the top right corner of the net.

Andre Lee, UMass-Lowell, LW/C (188th overall in 2019)

2021-2022 Stats: 9 goals, 2 assists, plus-6, 25 PIM in 14 games played

The River Hawks and Univ. of Massachusetts ended their first game of the weekend at a 4-4 tie before the River Hawks won the shootout. Their second game would result in a River Hawks defeat. Lee was able to score his eighth of the season with a snipe on the powerplay to draw the River Hawks within one in that game.

The bigger news on Faber is that he is returning to Team USA’s World Juniors camp after playing top-line minutes in last year’s tournament.
