Projected Lineup: LA Kings vs. Ottawa Senators in Game 20

November 27, 2021 By John Hoven

A 4pm start at home on a Saturday? Sure, why not.

While the Kings have historically not been a very good team in matinee games at the Staples Center, early on this season they’ve actually found some success. That notion will be put to the test today, though, as the game is really neither a day game or a typical night game. It’s more of a tweener.

With Andreas Athanasiou still in protocol and coming off of a lopsided loss to Toronto on Wednesday, coach Todd McLellan is searching for a lineup to be thankful for right now.

After giving Viktor Arvidsson a long look with Anze Kopitar on the top line, he finally seems to be willing to try something different. Based on Friday’s practice combos, today’s lineup will likely look like…

LA KINGS PROJECTED LINEUP vs. OTTAWA SENATORS on 11/27

Kempe – Kopitar – Brown
Iafallo – Danault – Arvidsson
Moore – Andersson – Grundstrom
Lemieux – Lizotte – Kaliyev / Kupari

Other options: The other ‘K’ will sit
Protocol: Athanasiou

Edler – Durzi
Maatta – Roy
Björnfot – Anderson

Other options: Clague

Petersen (starter)
Quick

Injured Reserve: Doughty and Walker

Earlier today, we did a deep dive on Doughty, Byfield, Arvidsson, Quick, and others on NHL Radio…

KINGS MILESTONES WITHIN REACH

Alex Edler – one goal away from career number 100

Anze Kopitar – needs 52 points to pass Dave Taylor for third on the Kings all-time scoring list

Dustin Brown is 10 goals away from passing Bernie Nicholls for fifth place in Kings franchise history

Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00 pm PST tonight and the game will be on Bally Sports Network
