From their humble beginning as one of the NHL’s Second Six expansion teams in 1967, through winning two Stanley Cups in three years and becoming a league powerhouse in 2012-14, the LA Kings have experienced a rich hockey history over the past 50-plus years. Below are some key franchise moments that occurred on this date. 

On October 31, 1985, the @LAKings acquired Bryan "Butsy" Erickson from the Washington Capitals for Bruce Shoebottom. In two seasons with the #LAKings, Erickson scored 46 goals and 114 points in 165 regular season games.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/iwwVM16L4q

On October 31, 1989, Wayne Gretzky recorded his 46th career hat trick against Mario Lemieux and the Pittsburgh Penguins. On October 31, 1997, Yanic Perreault recorded his first career hat trick against the Detroit Red Wings.
