Projected Lineup: LA Kings vs. Golden Knights in 2021-22 Season Opener

October 14, 2021 By MayorsManor Staff

It’s finally here. Later tonight, the Kings will open their 2021-22 season against the visiting Vegas Golden Knights at Staples Center. In advance of their season debut, coach Todd McLellan appears to be going with the following lineup:

LA KINGS PROJECTED LINEUP vs. VGK ON 10/14

Arvidsson – Kopitar – Brown
Kempe – Danault – Iafallo
Tkachev – Vilardi – Kaliyev
Lemieux – Lizotte – Moore

Other options: Grundstrom

Anderson – Doughty
Bjornfot – Roy
Edler – Walker

Other options: Wolanin

Petersen (starter)
Quick

IR: Maatta and Athanasiou

UPDATE – From what I've been able to gather, Lias Andersson will not be placed on iR at this time. Will cross that bridge later, if needed. Kings already have an extra forward and first two games are at home. https://t.co/TNd3WXUnxF

Cal Petersen off first at LAK AM skate. Looks to be Opening Night starter.

Vegas projected lineup:

Pacioretty-Stephenson-Stone
Marchessault-Karlsson-Smith
Dadonov-Patrick-Kolesar
Krebs-Leschyshyn-Rondbjerg

Martinez-Pietrangelo
McNabb-Theodore
Hague-Whitecloud

Lehner

KINGS MILESTONES WITHIN REACH

Alex Edler – one goal away from career number 100

Dustin Brown – one game away from playing in his 18th season with the Kings, the most in franchise history

Phil Danault – needs 8 games to reach 400 games, and one point to reach 200 career points

Anze Kopitar – needs 70 points to pass Dave Taylor for third on the Kings all-time scoring list

Drew Doughty – 25 games from 1,000 GP; he’d be the first player from his draft class (2008) to reach the milestone and fourth player in team history to do so while playing their entire career with the Kings

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 pm tonight and the game will be televised on Bally’s Sports Network.

If you haven’t given it a listen yet, be sure to check out Todd McLellan on today’s Kings Of The Podcast – linked below, for your reference.
