Summer is officially over in one week.
At least according to the hockey calendar.
Next Friday, six NHL teams will kick things off in Arizona with their first games of the 2021 Rookie Faceoff tournament.
On Day 1, it will be Kings vs. Avalanche in the opener, followed by a Ducks-Sharks matchup, then capped off with the Coyotes hosting the Golden Knights later that evening at Gila River Arena. Each team will then take Saturday off before playing back-to-back games on Sunday and Monday.
MayorsManor will be on hand to cover all the action in Phoenix. Yet, let’s not wait any longer to let the fun begin.
Previously, we posted the rosters for each team here. Using the full list of Kings prospects and invitees expected to participate, we’ve put together our projection for how coach John Wroblewski will piece the team together for the first night of action.
We haven’t received any tips or information at the time of this writing. Thus, we’ll put a more ‘official’ projection out a few hours before game time next week.

Wrobo attended the Kings Development Camp in LA last month, but watched from up top, as the week-long activities were largely run by the team’s Development Staff. He did stop by and join us midweek, though, to share some observations about what he was seeing and to talk about the upcoming season. If you missed it, check out the link below.

It’s going to be exciting to watch, especially those top 2 forward lines!
Has it been confirmed that QB and players in similar situation can play in the AHL this year? I know there was talk but didn’t see it noted as a done deal (fingers crossed).
It’s approved. Byfield is AHL eligible this upcoming season. Normally, he’d be OHL or NHL only.
Is Clarke at LD an experiment or has he played there before?
Great question. It’s based in need. We discussed this very topic during today’s KOTP. It provides all the context.
I was under the impression Turcott was still being looked at as a center. Has anyone in King’s staff said he was changing to wing? Or is this for Rookie camp only?
He was used at both center and wing with the Reign last season. We expect more of the same in 2021-22.
