Don’t worry, we’ll have a more detailed ‘post event’ article up later this afternoon with some key observations (and opinions) coming out of the 2021 Rookie Tournament.
First, though, we’ll post our two photo galleries from the games played on Sunday and Monday.
For LA’s game vs. the host Arizona Coyotes, they went with the following lineup:
Chromiak – Turcotte – Kaliyev
Pinelli – Byfield – Madden
Sodergran – Pavlychev – Dudas
Canonica – Morrison – McSorley
Supryka – Durzi
Spence – Grans
Robinson – Kosior
Ingham
Below are some of the tweets shared during LA’s 2-1 shootout win…
By my rough count, Kaliyev shot 614 pucks in warmups. They all went in but one.

Hey look, there's Dudas.

Hey look, there's Dudas.
A few seconds later…
Hey look, it's Dudas again.
Dude is omnipresent.

Think we know where Wrobo got the inspiration for that Pavlychev-Dudas pairing tonight… https://t.co/HJDpYsUBld

Great shift by Durzi, with two spectacular plays at the blue line. Spence over the boards next, says – Hold My (Root) Beer.
53 showing plenty of hustle and creativity with the puck on his stick.

Probably a good thing that shift ended for McSorley when it did.
He was doing everything to start a fight (after taking offense to a hit along the boards). No takers. Which means, he was probably on his way to taking a penalty any second.

All of their numbers are in the 70's, what if we called them "That 70's Line". Like the TV show. Has that ever been used? https://t.co/NvmenfvRFu

Turcotte goal
Kings tie it 1-1

Dudas draws a key penalty with 46 seconds remaining in regulation.
He had been playing with the puck on the PK, dancing on the ice with three AZ players chasing after him. Looked like a cat with a ball of yarn.

With 2:28 remaining in overtime and the game tied 1-1, here are my three stars tonight from LA…
⭐⭐⭐ Turcotte
⭐⭐ Ingham
⭐ DurziChromiak and Spence also stood out in the first 30 minutes.

(note: I had them flipped, my emoji game was off. Durzi should have been third star, with Turcotte first star)

Madden when I asked about his OT goal — "It's my go-to move and I just wait until the goalie makes a move first. So yeah."
Um, so yeah. Totally agree. https://t.co/QNjkyRFK1R

Wrobo — I think we showed some of our our 'rookie' tonight… Maybe some some of the successes the guys had, and the team success that we had in GM1, might have been taken for granted a little bit going into tonight's contest. A lot of credit to AZ, they competed very hard.

Hockey IQ is off the charts. And that first step, whether it's on the PK or just a loose puck retrieval or something, a lose puck in the offense zone by the blue line, you're so confident that he's going to get there first and then do something sound with the puck. (End of Wrobo)
