Now that the official Protection Lists for this week’s NHL Expansion Draft have been made public, we thought it would be fun to go through all of the players made available and see if it’s possible to cobble together a team only using former LA Kings players as our selections.
It became a little tricky, as not every team has a player somehow connected to the Kings on their available list. And other teams had multiple players on their list, so we had to be strategic when selecting a forward or defenseman from those lists (for example: Trevor Lewis and Derek Forbort were both available from Winnipeg).
Harry Ouzounian (aka the Kingstorian on twitter) normally provides MayorsManor with a daily article outlining ‘This Day in LA Kings History.’ However, in the exercise below, he sat down to play the role of Seattle GM Ron Francis and culled together enough names necessary to create a unique piece of fictitious history…
