From their humble beginning as one of the NHL’s Second Six expansion teams in 1967, through winning two Stanley Cups in three years and becoming a league powerhouse in 2012-14, the LA Kings have experienced a rich hockey history over the past 50-plus years. Below are some key franchise moments that occurred on this date.

On June 25, 1992, Barry Melrose was named head coach of the @LAKings. In his first season with the team, @NHLBarryMelrose coached the #LAKings to their first Campbell Conference title, and to their first trip to the Stanley Cup Final.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/V5Wz4cccKo

On June 25, 1998, Rob Blake became the first @LAKings' player to win the Norris Trophy as the NHL's best defenseman. In 1997-98, @RobBlake4 scored 50 points, led all NHL defensemen with 23 goals, and was selected to the NHL's First All-Star Team.#LAKings #GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/Zjp1b7aBE8

On June 25, 2000, the @LAKings selected Lubomir Visnovsky in the fourth round, 118th overall, in the NHL Draft. Visnovsky was named to the NHL's All-Rookie Team in 2001, and in seven seasons with the #LAKings, scored 70 goals and 279 points in 499 games.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/Oj5fO9u7tV

On June 25, 2010, the @LAKings selected Derek Forbort 15th overall at the first NHL Draft to take place at @STAPLESCenter. In five seasons with the #LAKings, Forbort recorded 478 blocks, 463 hits, and 53 points in 268 games.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/Thq28ME7zK
