From their humble beginning as one of the NHL’s Second Six expansion teams in 1967, through winning two Stanley Cups in three years and becoming a league powerhouse in 2012-14, the LA Kings have experienced a rich hockey history over the past 50-plus years. Below are some key franchise moments that occurred on this date.

On June 20, 1996, the @LAKings acquired Stephane Fiset from the Colorado Avalanche for Eric Lacroix and a swap of first round picks in 1998. In five seasons with the #LAKings, Fiset posted a 80-85-22 record, with a 2.82 goals against average and .907 save percentage.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/829da3X89h

On June 20, 1998, the @LAKings revealed their newest team uniforms at an unveiling event at Universal Studios. On June 20, 1999, the @LAKings acquired Ziggy Palffy, Bryan Smolinski and Marcel Cousineau from the Islanders for Olli Jokinen, Josh Green, Mathieu Biron and a first. On June 20, 2008, the @LAKings selected Drew Doughty second overall at the NHL Draft. On June 20, 2018, @LAKings captain Anze Kopitar won his second Selke Trophy as the NHL's top defensive forward.
