This Date in LA Kings History: June 18th

From their humble beginning as one of the NHL’s Second Six expansion teams in 1967, through winning two Stanley Cups in three years and becoming a league powerhouse in 2012-14, the LA Kings have experienced a rich hockey history over the past 50-plus years. Below are some key franchise moments that occurred on this date. 

On June 18, 1975, Bob Pulford became the first and only head coach in @LAKings' history to win the Jack Adams Award as NHL coach of the year. In 1974-75, Pulford coached the #LAKings to a 105-point season, with a 42-17-21 record in 80 games.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/sDQz3eln7s

On June 18, 1998, the @LAKings acquired defenseman Doug Bodger from the New Jersey Devils for a fourth round draft pick. Bodger, who celebrated his 32nd birthday on this day, scored 14 points in 65 games with the #LAKings.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/0ErrvD3WTu
