From their humble beginning as one of the NHL’s Second Six expansion teams in 1967, through winning two Stanley Cups in three years and becoming a league powerhouse in 2012-14, the LA Kings have experienced a rich hockey history over the past 50-plus years. Below are some key franchise moments that occurred on this date.

On April 14, 1974, Tom Williams (#17) became the first player in @LAKings' history to record a hat trick in a playoff game. Williams scored a natural hat trick in the third period in the #LAKings' 5-1 win in Game 4 against the Chicago Blackhawks.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/MP5AW1HnTs

On April 14, 1990, the @LAKings eliminated the defending Stanley Cup champion Calgary Flames in Game 6 of the Smythe Division Semifinals. Steve Duchesne scored two goals, and Mike Krushelnyski scored a miraculous goal in double overtime for a 4-3 win for the #LAKings.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/MnWabAEFbu

On April 14, 1994, Dave Taylor appeared in his final NHL game after 17 seasons with the @LAKings.
