From their humble beginning as one of the NHL’s Second Six expansion teams in 1967, through winning two Stanley Cups in three years and becoming a league powerhouse in 2012-14, the LA Kings have experienced a rich hockey history over the past 50-plus years. Below are some key franchise moments that occurred on this date. 

On April 13, 1982, the @LAKings completed the biggest upset in NHL history by eliminating the Edmonton Oilers in round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. On April 13, 1989, Mike Allison scored one of the most memorable goals in @LAKings' playoff history, and Chris Kontos set a team record for goals in a playoff series (7) in a 4-1 win against the Edmonton Oilers.
