Wednesday: Kings Projected Lineup vs. VGK

March 31, 2021 By John Hoven

Following the Kings loss in Vegas on Monday night, coach Todd McLellan was asked about his lineup changes.

“We’ll look at it again and see if we have to insert somebody different in there,” said LA’s bench boss.

Unfortunately, Tuesday’s practice did little to reveal what those changes — if any at all — may look like. Ditto for Wednesday, as the Kings held an optional morning skate.

Even so, we’ve provided some thoughts on twitter over the past 24 hours:

Just another thought before Kings practice opens up here in a few minutes…

And to create further conversation, we also discussed the idea of moving Gabe Vilardi to Kopitar’s wing on all new Kings Of The Podcast here (where we were also joined by Kings defenseman Matt Roy).

As for what McLellan may be thinking, here’s the latest projection…

LA Kings projected lineup vs. Vegas Golden Knights

Iafallo – Kopitar – Brown
Moore – Vilardi – Carter
Athanasiou – JAD – Kempe
Grundstrom – Lizotte – Wagner *

UPDATE: McLellan indicated Andersson will play tonight, so that’s going to complicate the projection even more because he could be used as a center or winger. Moat likely, he’ll replace Wagner, and there will be some line shuffling.

Anderson – Doughty
Bjornfot – Roy
Walker – Strand

Petersen (starter)
Quick

Other players available:

Matt Luff
Kurtis MacDermid

Not available:
Martin Frk (IR)
Olli Maatta (out week-to-week)
Brendan Lemieux (story here)

The taxi squad is currently comprised of Toby Bjornfot, Austin Strand, Daniel Brickley, Lias Andersson, Drake Rymsha, and Troy Grosenick

NOTE: Following the Kings media availability this morning, we’ll add a few relevant quotes to this article.
