From their humble beginning as one of the NHL’s Second Six expansion teams in 1967, through winning two Stanley Cups in three years and becoming a league powerhouse in 2012-14, the LA Kings have experienced a rich hockey history over the past 50-plus years. Below are some key franchise moments that occurred on this date.

On March 31, 2000, the @LAKings signed Hobey Baker finalist Steven Reinprecht to an NHL contract. Reinprecht, who led the NCAA in scoring with 66 points, scored 12 goals and 29 points in 60 games with the #LAKings.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/5xUFFIkG5H

On March 31, 2001, Felix Potvin became the first @LAKings' goaltender since Rogie Vachon in 1977 to pitch back-to-back shutouts. Potvin made 19 saves, and Adam Deadmarsh scored a goal and two points in a 4-0 win over the Colorado Avalanche.#LAKings #GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/A3hgInioc3
