Like in the NHL, most of 2021 has seen the Ontario Reign playing two-game sets vs. other AHL teams. However, this weekend it will be a rare pair of back-to-back games against different opponents. First up, is a rematch with the visiting Roadrunners on Friday night. They met up in mid-February for two games, with Tucson claiming one-goal victories each time.
Henderson arrives in SoCal for a game with Ontario on Saturday night, but we’ll hold off on discussing that any further for now.
In front of the Reign is an important game with the Roadrunners, one in which they’ll have leading point producer Rasmus Kupari back in the lineup. And, from what we’ve been able to gather, Alex Turcotte will be sliding over to play left wing alongside of him tonight.
Since their last game five days ago, the Reign have lost Daniel Brickley on defense and Lias Andersson at forward. Both players are on the Kings roadtrip this weekend in Colorado.
Some of the other players listed below may slide around a bit, yet we’re projecting coach John Wroblewski will go with a lineup similar to this:
Ontario Reign Projected Lineup for Fri. 3/12 vs. Tucson Roadrunners
Alex Turcotte – Rasmus Kupari – Arthur Kaliyev
Mikey Eyssimont – Quinton Byfield – Sammy Fagemo
Blaine Byron – Akil Thomas – Aidan Dudas
Boko Imama – Brett Sutter – Nick Halloran
Cole Hults – Austin Strand
Kale Clague – Mark Alt
Cameron Gaunce – Sean Durzi
JF Berube
Jacob Ingham
We have a key injury update that’s worth passing along too. It sounds like Jacob Moverare is very close to returning, which would be a huge help to the Reign blueline. Although an AHL rookie, the 22-year-old defenseman is highly thought of by the organization and has spent the past two seasons playing with Frolunda in the SHL and even played in Finland’s SM-liiga during late 2020. Thus, he’s a little more polished than a typical first-year pro in the AHL. Moverare is the type of player who can clean up other people’s mistakes and control the tempo of games. A full scouting report on Moverare can be found here.
Friday’s puck drop is scheduled for 6pm PST and can be streamed through AHL TV.
