LA rookie defenseman Mikey Anderson after the Kings 4-1 loss in Colorado on Sunday…
Anderson on the second and third Colorado goals coming after a strong stretch of play for the Kings
We put together a couple of good shifts there. Anytime you have a couple shifts you put together; you keep some pressure on and then you give one up like that, it stings, kills a little momentum. It’s the way the game works. Some days that happens to you and other days it goes the other way. It’s just trying to deal with it and finding a way through it.
On what he liked about their game today compared to Friday night
They’re a high-volume shooting team. They’re always throwing pucks at the net, finding ways to get it through, recovering pucks off the initial shot. Tonight, we came out a lot better. We were more engaged physically and mentally throughout the whole game. Offensively, we found some ways to make some more plays, get a few more pucks to net, create some chances. Overall, it was better. At the same time, we’re not satisfied. We have to find ways to win hockey games.
On if the illness going around the team affected the team’s energy
It’s life, I guess, stuff happens. It’s ever changing, especially this year with all that is going on in the world. We’re trying to be ready for the unexpected. When you battle those things, it’s something you try and get through. It’s not always easy, but at the same time it’s not an excuse to not show up and play. Tonight we got [Alex Iafallo] back. It’s nice when you get a guy that misses a game and then comes back in. You can draw some, but you have to find a way through it.
