Three LA Kings Prospects on TV Today and Tomorrow

February 19, 2021 By John Hoven Leave a Comment

With the weekend upon us, it’s time for some more college hockey. And the LA Kings have three of their prospects featured in a series of games that will be televised today and tomorrow.

Defenseman Brock Faber and his No. 4 ranked University of Minnesota teammates are hosting a pair of games vs. Michigan State. For the Gophers, they climbed up a spot in rankings this week after posting back-to-back shutouts over Notre Dame last weekend (by identical 3-0 scores, no less). It was a bit of revenge, if you will, after the Irish took a pair of games in Minnesota several weeks prior. Now, the Gophers will face a Spartans team who split a pair of games vs. Arizona State last weekend, after dropping two games to Wisconsin prior to that.

Faber, selected by the Kings in the second round of the 2020 Draft, burst onto the college scene earlier this year and is now playing on Minnesota’s top D pairing as a freshman. He also had a spectacular World Junior tournament, winning a gold medal with Team USA and earning the highest grade among all nine Kings prospects in the tournament.

To take Faber 45th overall, the Kings packaged Vancouver’s second round pick (which they acquired in the Tyler Toffoli trade) with one of their own fourth round picks – moving up six spots to take the 18-year-old defender. He also appeared on Kings Of The Podcast in November (listen here).

Minnesota vs Michigan State will be televised as follows:

Friday, February 19 at 5pm PST on FS North Plus (DirecTV 668-1)
Saturday, February 20 at 3pm PST on FS North (DirecTV 668)

Another pair of Kings prospects will also be on TV this weekend, as part of UMass Lowell taking on Northeastern. UML features forward Andre Lee and defenseman Ben Meehan.

The Kings duo are working hard to get their River Hawk team back into the Top 20 college rankings. After starting the season ranked No. 11 — and in a season ravaged with games being cancelled/rescheduled over the past two months — they’ve slowly fallen outside the Top 20. After Lee gave the team a much needed win with an OT goal last week vs. UConn, they followed that up by dropping two straight to No. 1 ranked Boston College last weekend. Things won’t be any easier this time around, as the face No. 16 Northeastern – one of their conference rivals.

UMass Lowell vs. Northeastern TV schedule:

Friday, February 19 at 4:00 pm PST on NESN (DirecTV 628)

Lee was a guest on Kings Of The Podcast in November. That show received universal praise, as Lee and fellow college prospect David Hrenak told some great stories. It’s linked below for your reference.
