From their humble beginning as one of the NHL’s Second Six expansion teams in 1967, through winning two Stanley Cups in three years and becoming a league powerhouse in 2012-14, the LA Kings have experienced a rich hockey history over the past 50-plus years. Below are some key franchise moments that occurred on this date.

On February 17, 1981, the @LAKings acquired defenseman Rick Chartraw from Montreal for a 1983 second round draft pick (Claude Lemieux). Chartraw, who won five Stanley Cup championships with the Canadiens, scored 25 points in 85 games with the #LAKings.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/f6RCpTB2dR

On February 17, 1983, Dave Taylor became the third player in @LAKings history to record 200 goals when he scored two goals against the Red Wings. On February 17, 1996, the @LAKings acquired Doug Zmolek and Shane Churla from the Dallas Stars for Darryl Sydor and a fifth round pick. Zmolek recorded 10 points and 249 penalty minutes in 119 games, and Churla had 37 penalty minutes in 11 games with the #LAKings.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/QFx1p9ribI

On February 17, 2020, the @LAKings acquired Tyler Madden, Tim Schaller, and a second round pick from the Canucks for Tyler Toffoli.
