World Juniors Twitter Breakdown: USA vs Austria 12/26

December 26, 2020 By MayorsManor Staff

USA looks to bounce back after their loss to Russia last night where Marco Rossi and Austria are going for a win in their first game.

Looking ahead to tonight's game, here are the USA v Austria lines and pairings…

Brock Faber moved to the second D pairing w/ York

Turcotte is noticeable tonight. Legs are moving. Engaged.

— John Hoven | The Mayor (@mayorNHL) December 27, 2020

The top line is showing some jump early, rolling some good shifts together.

Alex Turcotte(#GoKingsGo) has been solid to start and prompted this Trevor Zegras(#NHLDucks) grade-A. #WorldJuniors pic.twitter.com/O8jSKN2nyU

1-0 USA on a weird one. Goal currently credited to Alex Turcotte (LAK). Shots are 14-3.

πŸš¨πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ With just over 4 minutes to go we have our first goal of the game! @Turcotte__71 rolls the puck through to the back of the net at @usahockey up 1-0 over @hockeyaustria #WorldJuniors @LAKings pic.twitter.com/QfJC8Zsvkn

Another post for team πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ. What is that 10 posts this period?

John Farinacci (ARI) makes it 3-0. He's turned into a very important player for the U.S. Nate Leaman has said he likes the way he can dictate pace and shifts. Nearly had puck poked away, finds it and fires it.

— Chris Peters (@chrismpeters) December 27, 2020

Just seconds apart, John Farinacci brings the US up 3-0

Brendan Brisson (VGK) with a patented one-timer from the right circle on the power play makes it 4-0. Not getting a ton of five-on-five time, but that shot is a big reason why he's on this roster. He's played effective hockey in a role more limited than what he's used to.

USA 5-0 on Zegras goal with an assist to Turcotte

USA 6-0 Boldy, with Faber getting the secondary assist

— John Hoven | The Mayor (@mayorNHL) December 27, 2020

Dustin Wolf shows how to distrubute the puck as a goalie, Brock Faber plays it all the way down to Matthew Beniers, and he finds Matthew Boldy for the goal. Wow. pic.twitter.com/h5BUUDE9T1

Brock Faber with a beauty of a stretch pass, Benier flips it to Boldy who buries it pic.twitter.com/oGQzgkeyqm

— CJ Fogler #BlackLivesMatter (@cjzero) December 27, 2020

The extra point is good! Matt Boldy (@MnWild) is on the doorstep, and he scores the 7th American goal.

#WJC: USA with two more tallies to make it 10-0 over Austria with a 64-5 advantage in shots — Brendan Brisson popped in a rebound and Matt Boldy slammed home a feed from Trevor Zegras.

— Steve Kournianos (@TheDraftAnalyst) December 27, 2020

The player of the game Sebastian Wraneschitz went down with an injury in the third.

Noooooooooooo!

— John Hoven | The Mayor (@mayorNHL) December 27, 2020

Hats off to Sebastian Wraneschitz who leaves the game with an injury after making 58 saves on 68 shots. Robbed Bobby Brink with a pad to close out his night.

Postgame quotes coming up#WorldJuniors

— John Hoven | The Mayor (@mayorNHL) December 27, 2020

USA coach on @Brockfaber14 – I really like his feet and I really like his strength. He has a body type where he's very strong from the knees to his torso and and his feet are pretty elite. Then his ability to gap guys and his ability to recover and his ability to make up space.

— John Hoven | The Mayor (@mayorNHL) December 27, 2020

More from USA coach on Faber – He just keeps growing and getting better. He was someone that we had to look at hard at the start of the college hockey season. We were watching every one of his games. I was watching him on film and he just he just keeps growing and getting better.

— John Hoven | The Mayor (@mayorNHL) December 27, 2020

And more on LA Kings prospect Brock Faber from USA coach Nate Leaman – We put him with Cam [York] today and and we like that pairing. So, you know, I think he's gonna be a big piece of the team here moving forward. #WorldJuniors
