In the days leading up to Christmas 2019, Kings Of The Podcast produced five episodes — and one of the absolute best was with former Kings forward Colin Fraser.
His stories were endless and there were more laughs shared that we could handle. Here’s Fraser on scoring a memorable goal in the 2012 Stanley Cup Final:
“Yeah, so, Marty Brodeur – I don’t know if you guys know, but Marty Brodeur was in net that game. He was a pretty good goalie. So, I was sitting there before the game, when I played with Edmonton; I scored three goals all year with the Oilers and two of them were in Jersey on Marty Brodeur, in the same game! So, I got the guys together before Game 1 and said ‘Hey boys, listen up, I don’t know if you guys know this about me, but I have been known to score…’ This is 100% true. Ask anyone who was in the room. Ask Mike Richards, Carts, whoever you wanna ask… I said, ‘Boys, I don’t know if you guys know this about me, but I’ve been known to score not one, but two goals on Marty Brodeur in this building.’ [They said,] ‘Oh yeah, sure Fras, yeah sure.’ First period, I went out and I scored on him. The boys were just killing themselves laughing. And in between the periods there they couldn’t believe I actually got a shot on net, let alone put one in the net. So that was the biggest goal of my career, I’ll tell you that. One that my kids can actually see on YouTube instead of me getting my face punched in.”
