Similar to a regular season of NHL action, followed by four grueling rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, we’ve reached the end of the line in our Reverse Retro story. Hockey fans initially voted 16 of the league’s 31 new jerseys into a playoff bracket style format. And we now can announce that the final results are in – the LA Kings forum blue and gold sweater has emerged as the Reverse Retro Cup winner.
Not only have fans spoken with their votes, they appear to have also made their voices heard through their wallets. Authentic Adidas versions of the Kings Reverse Retro jerseys are sold out everywhere. While it remains to be seen if a restock will take place at some point in the future, that initial offering has been every bit a success. Fans looking to join the Reverse Retro fun can still get a plethora of Kings purple and gold inspired gear, as a slew of Reverse Retro inspired sweatshirts, t-shirts, and hats have recently been made available.
In our fan-driven results for the Reverse Retro Cup, the Kings were taking on the No. 1 seeded Hurricanes. Both teams saw stiff competition in the Conference Final, where each team saw their narrowest win of any round.
When all the dust settled, LA defeated Carolina by securing an astonishing 96% of all votes cast in the Reverse Retro Cup final round – winning by the widest margin of victory during any match-up in the entire tournament.
Thank you to everybody who participated, casting more than 10,000 opinions on the the new Reverse Retro jerseys.
Now, hopefully, we’re just a few weeks away from talking about actual hockey returning.
Game on (almost)!
