UPDATED: First Look at LA Kings Reverse Retro Jersey

October 22, 2020 By John Hoven

Below is a first look at what we believe the LA Kings ‘reverse retro’ jersey will be for the upcoming 2020-21 season. As recently explained in a separate article, this is a league wide initiative – where teams are expected to add a fourth jersey, to only be worn once or twice versus a rival club. It remains unclear who the Kings will play, although we would expect it to be the Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, Vegas Golden Knights, or Vancouver Canucks.

How we got here:

LINK to our initial article from a few days ago, providing context on the overall jersey project

LINK to our latest poll, where MayorsManor readers voted on the jersey concept they liked best

And from what we’ve been hearing over the past 24 hours, the actual jersey will look something very similar to this…

For additional looks at what may be in play here, we asked MayorsManor jersey artist Justin Cox to also create a few alternatives for comparison purposes:

As stated previously on Kings of the Podcast, everything we’ve been hearing regarding the Kings ‘reverse retro’ jersey suggests it will be primarily purple. Thus, the white jerseys above are simply artist concepts for your enjoyment.

UPDATE: November 10, 2020:

From what we’re hearing, the official jerseys should be released on Monday, November 16.

And our artist Justin Cox was at it again. In the image below, he’s now provided a mock up of what the jersey and full uniform kit could look like – as “modeled” by LA Kings captain Anze Kopitar…

Bring back the Crown. No chevron just the Crown. These purple editions look too much like the St Louis Blues. Retro to 1975..

George, there are no chevrons in ANY of the designs. A chevron is V-shaped, sometimes inverted. You will more likely find chevrons on a SERGEANT’S uniform.
      Suggestion: google “chevrons”
Btw, the Blues 1975 uniforms had STRIPES on the shoulders!
Finally: Schedule an eye exam ASAP.

What George meant was “Chevy”, not “Chevron”, in which you are correct…they’re V patterns. The Kings’ 90’s sweater crest remembled the Chevy auto logo.

    Yep.
    Love the crown.

I wish they would do a primary purple with a small amount of black secondary and white piping. Then instead of the chrome buckets they wore for the outdoor game, gold helmets for their crowns. Oh, almost forgot to mention: with the BK logo.
Another idea I’d like to see: black jersey front and arms, purple shoulders and back, with a silver or gold trim (and maybe matching armband), giving a purple cloak like vibe.

As far as these ones go, they’re ok. As in a safe don’t love it or hate it sort of way. I definitely prefer the white based logo over the gold though.
