Adrian Kempe Scores, Talks Monarchs ECF Sweep

Kempe Monarchs 2015 playoffs AHLComments from LA Kings 2014 first round draft pick Adrian Kempe, following the Manchester Monarchs four-game sweep in the AHL’s Eastern Conference Final…

On the overall game:

“I think our start wasn’t that good, we came out a little bit, I don’t know, it wasn’t like the same start as we’ve had the last couple of game. But after that, I think we played much better. On the goals, we scored some dirty goals there. It was important for us and a good win.”

On how it feels to be in the Calder Cup Finals:

“Oh it feels great. This team (cant tell) into the playoffs so I’m really glad about how we’ve made it so far.”

On how he’s adjusted to the North American game:

“I like it. I just came in and tried to play my game and it was a little bit hard in the beginning. But the guys and the coaches have taught me a lot so I try to be better everyday. I think these two last games have been pretty good. My first few games weren’t that good I think. I think I’ve stepped up a few steps here these two last games.”

On why he wore flip flops after Game 3 with his suit:

“I forgot my shoes in Manchester so I’ve got to wear those back but, I don’t know. I guess its funny.”

On if coach Stothers stressed staying out of the box going into tonight’s game:

“No, I don’t do that. As I said, we didn’t do as good of a first period as we did the last couple games, so I don’t know, we were thinking about that period. But I think we stepped up after that and that’s how we scored some good goals in front of the net and that’s important. We killed penalties off really good.”
