AHL: Patrik Bartosak’s Guide To Being A Better Driver

March 3, 2015 By Andy Tonge

If you have followed Kings prospect Patrik Bartosak on Twitter for any amount of time, you have probably already realized that the Czech native is not a big fan of other drivers (note: If you have a Twitter account, Bartosak is a must follow). After signing an entry level contract with Los Angeles near the end of last year, junior hockey’s 2013 Goaltender of the Year is currently in his first full season of professional hockey. Living in Manchester, Bartosak has also often taken to social media to voice his complaints about the actions of others behind the wheel. Here is just a small sample of some of those tweets…

People of America, don't be afraid to use your signal lights while making a turn. It's not gonna hurt ya

— Patrik Bartosak (@PBartosak30) February 19, 2015

Sometimes I regret not living at the rink, so I wouldn't have to deal with drivers that pretend they are seeing snow for the first time ever

— Patrik Bartosak (@PBartosak30) February 9, 2015

Building on those remarks, we asked Bartosak for a list of his top 10 driving tips. Although he only came up with seven, if you follow these rules, you’re likely to avoid the ire we imagine he feels every time he steps into a car:

1. Please use your turn signals.

2. Don’t stop traffic on the highway just because one lane is merging onto it.

3. When the speed limit is 65 MPH, you don’t have to go 25 MPH.

4. Snow is not going to kill you.

5. After 5 or 6 PM, please turn on your headlights.

6. Don’t drive beside each other on the highway going the same speed.

7. Please do not merge onto the highway going 25 MPH.

At the ripe old age of 21, young Bartosak believes his recommendations are backed by a wealth of driving experience gained in three different countries – his homeland of the Czech Republic, Canada (where he played junior hockey in the WHL), and now in the United States. However, he is far from perfect himself, as depicted in the tweets below…

Ya I obviously need to work on my parking skills pic.twitter.com/rIAZQU5ywU

— Patrik Bartosak (@PBartosak30) March 26, 2014

Thank God for parking tickets. Like I dont have enough stuff to worry about

— Patrik Bartosak (@PBartosak30) January 15, 2015

Let’s hope Barto, as he is affectionately referred to by his teammates, figures out his own driving issues before he moves to Ontario next year and is forced to pay the slightly more expensive tickets California doles out.

[UPDATE: Always looking to get the last word, Bartosak quickly thumbed out a follow-up tweet immediately after this article posted. True to form, he offered yet another driving-related tip.]

@AndyTonge1 hahaha I love this. And please, drive a Volkswagen
