It hasn’t quite tuned into a case of Where’s Waldo, yet the whereabouts of center Mike Richards has quietly been causing a stir over the last 24 hours.
Nothing is wrong – don’t worry – nor is a call-up in the works… at least nothing is imminent at the moment.
For the better part of a month, Richards has been playing with the Kings’ AHL team in Manchester, where he’s recorded 14 points (3 goals, 11 assists) in 16 games. However, he did not accompany the team to St. John’s, Newfoundland for their three-game set vs. the Ice Caps beginning tonight.
From what we have been able to gather after speaking with several people in Kings’ management this morning, Richards is doing private physical testing and training in Los Angeles for a few days, so the organization can “get a baseline and develop a plan going forward.”
What exactly does that mean? Well, stay tuned; things appear to be very fluid at the moment.
In the meantime, what do you think should happen next? Vote in the Richards POLL here.
