Home sweet home is likely what Kings players and fans are thinking – or at least secretly hoping. After a road trip that was pretty ugly through the first four games, Darryl Sutter’s team managed to salvage a win in Dallas on Tuesday night to end things on a high note. Now, the Islanders – the former home of Kelly Hrudey, Butch Goring, and Ziggy Palffy – make their lone appearance of the season in downtown L.A. and bring former Kings prospect Thomas Hickey, pictured, with them. He’ll be on the blueline if you’re looking for him, while their captain, John Tavares, will be shooting the puck on Jonathan Quick as often as he can. If you missed it, the Islanders beat the Ducks 3-2 in overtime last night.
Now, for the good stuff – what you really came here to see. Below are the latest notes from our Puck Probability series, and joining us as a special guest for today’s article is B.D. Gallof, longtime Isles aficionado and current Long Island rep for The Fourth Period magazine. He really went all out, even passing along more than the usual five items. Take a look at what we’ve come up with…
Odds by MayorsManor:
3:1 – Some Islanders fan will show up during warmups with a sign reading “Thank You for beating the Rangers!”
6:1 – Lubomir Visnovsky brings cookies (video here)
9:1 – The total words spoken by a Kings player when interviewed on the bench by FSW will not exceed 30
22:1 – Kyle Clifford records a Gordie Howe hat trick in the second period.
200:1 – Justin Williams, out with an injury, will wear a suit and serve as a temporary assistant coach.
Odds by B.D. Gallof:
4:1 – The Kings score a power play goal on the NY Islanders. The L.A. powerplay might not exactly be working on all cylinders, but meet the Isles with the league worst PK, and you will fix that in a hurry.
5:1 – The Islanders sixth best power play will tally one versus the middle of the road PK of the Kings.
3:1 – Isles Assistant Coach Doug Weight will provide a facial expression that you didn’t think was humanly possible unless using clay and a power generator.
2:1 – Both John Tavares and Kyle Okposo will each have a point in this matchup.
Unfortunately, there is also…
2:1 – L.A. will score at least three goals versus the Isles.
EVEN – Jack Capuano will not only NOT call a timeout at any time in this game, no matter how it is going, his hair will be PERFECT.
There is also 1:1 odds that Islanders fans will be go from booing to cheering their own team during the game more than a WWE fan watching a PPV.
