Puck Probability: Odds for Kings at Red Wings, October 31

October 31, 2014 By John Hoven

Quick Kings Howard Wings NHLAfter giving Martin Jones the start in net last night in Pittsburgh, Kings coach Darryl Sutter is expected to go back to his ace, Jonathan Quick, against Detroit. The former Conn Smythe winner is just 3-7-1 in 11 career games played at Joe Louis Arena and will also be looking to get his first road win of the 2014-15 season. In his last visit to Detroit, Quick and the Kings lost 3-2 in a shootout. Enough of the past though, let’s talk the future. Continuing a series we’ve done throughout the early part of this season, we’re back with 10 all new tidbits related to this game. As usual, MayorsManor has come up with five things that may occur on the L.A. side of the ice, and we have a guest to share thoughts related to the other bench. Joining us for Game 11 is Dave Joseph, the Kings P.A. Announcer at Staples Center – who just so happens to be back in his home state of Michigan to see how things will unfold tonight, live in person.

Odds by MayorsManor:

3:1 – This game goes to a shootout

6:1 – Jake Muzzin scores a goal

13:1 – Kyle Clifford plays less than seven minutes

36:1 – David Van der Gulik will score… and then Bob Miller and Jim Fox will debate the correct pronunciation of his last name

55:1 – The Kings will be awarded a five-minute major power play

Odds by Dave Joseph:

1:1 – Coach Mike Babcock will be wearing some type of checkered shirt and solid tie combination (this is my lock of the week)

2:1 – A Swedish-born player scores a goal for Detroit (spoiler: the Red Wings have 7 Swedes on their roster)

5:1 – A Kings player will get “Kronwallwed” by Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall, whose visor will then shift even higher up on his forehead

9:1 – Al Sobotka will twirl the octopus over his head nine times after a Wings fan tosses one on the ice

37:1 – The Red Wings will score a controversial goal in the final minute of regulation and go on to win the game in a shootout (oh wait, that was last season…)
