Some quick comments from a few playuers regarding Steven Stamkos not being part of the final Canadian Olympic roster…
Jonathan Toews:
“It’s a tough situation. Everyone knows that even when he is not at his best he is one heck of a player. Who knows what he could have accomplished at the Olympics. That’s a serious injury. I am sure he did everything in his power to come back. It’s a huge opportunity for a guy like him to help his country but this is not an injury to mess with. I am sure it’s hard for him to have to make this decision but at the same time there is a long list of players to fill that spot.”
Patrick Sharp:
“It was tough news to hear. I know how much he wanted to play in the Olympics. I think he is the best goal scorer in the world. It’s a tough loss for the team and the country. I feel really bad for “Stammer” because I know how hard he was working to get there. The good thing about our country (Canada) is that we have a deep talent pool and hopefully we can manage the loss.”
Corey Perry:
“It’s unfortunate. He’s worked so hard to get back and to try and play for Canada. Everybody feels bad for him. You have to give him a lot of credit for how hard he worked to try and get back.”
