Last season, the Ontario Reign helped contribute over $500,000 to the community – the most in team history. And this weekend they’ll be back at it again.
Through their charitable branch, the Hope Reigns Foundation, the team raises money via a variety of different methods, including live jersey auctions.
For Sunday’s game against the visiting Florida Everblades, Reign players will pay tribute to the men and women who have served the United States by wearing specially made American flag inspired jerseys and socks. Following the team’s sixth Military Appreciation Night, all jerseys will be auctioned off live to fans in the arena, with proceeds going to Stater Bros. Charities to benefit various veteran organizations.
In November 2012, the Reign celebrated all branches of the military with a similar game and raised more than $32,000 from the post-game jersey auction.
The purpose of Stater Bros. Charities is to help improve and transform the communities their markets serve by providing much needed philanthropic support. With an emphasis on programs that benefit hunger relief, children’s health and wellbeing, education for both youth and adults, elderly care and services for our Nation’s Veterans, the group aims to combat some of the most critical needs in the surrounding area.
Sunday’s game begins at 3pm and military personnel will receive a special discounted ticket price.
