On today’s episode of the MayorsManor show we’re joined by former NHL player Bates Battaglia. In addition to his time with the Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs, he had runs in the ECHL, AHL and a few European leagues as well. However, he’ss now become a bit of TV star after winning the most recent edition of the Amazing Race.
Battaglia traveled the world over with his younger brother Anthony and they outlasted all other teams, claiming a $1 million dollar grand prize on the CBS reality show. We’ll talk about that experinece, ‘meeting’ President Obama, concerns he had going into the show, being drafted by the Mighty Ducks in 1994, dreaming of making it to the NHL, arguing with his brother on national TV, some country girls they formed an alliance with, playing in the 2002 Stanley Cup Final and much more.
You’ll laugh a little and learn a little. Give it a listen…
