Dustin Brown reacts to 10 LA Kings-inspired baby names

March 3, 2013 By John Hoven

Drew Doughty baby MayorsManor Kings
On Saturday afternoon, Nicole Brown, wife of Kings captain Dustin Brown – and the self-proclaimed ‘best hockey player in the Brown household’ – made her return visit to The Fourth Period Live, a weekly show airing on NHL Network Radio via Sirius/XM.

During her segment she dropped the news that the couple is expecting their fourth child.

So, with three boys already present and accounted for – Jacob, Mason and Cooper – we thought we’d run some Kings-inspired names by Dustin to see how open he was to things. Here’s what he had to say after practice today when we threw some potential boy names at him…

Wayne – “I don’t like that for the kid.”

Ziggy – “That’s a Euro name.”

Rogie – “We probably shouldn’t name a kid that.”

Blake – “I like Blake, Blake’s alright.”

Butch – “That would be another tough one for a kid.”

Luc – “I’m alright with Luc.”

Anze – “If I was Slovenian, that would be cool.”

Jari – “If I was Finnish, that would be cool.”

Darryl – “Farmer’s name, I guess, right?”

Drew – “NEVER would I name a kid after Drew Doughty!”

Now, knowing how fond Doughty is of his name (see here), we felt it only fair to give the young defenseman a chance to respond to his captain’s comments.

“I think every guy on the team who has had a kid so far, I’ve told them to name him Drew,” said Doughty. “It’s a good name. It could be a girl’s name too. But, I think it would remind them a little too much of me if they did do that.”

And that would be a bad thing?

“No it would be a good thing, but they’ll tell you it’s a bad thing!”

We’re going to let Nicole take it from here.
