It’s another day game for the LA Kings, something coach Darryl Sutter said he doesn’t think they struggle with. So, we’ll see if they can continue the positive momentum they’ve shown over the last five games. It will be a challenge because, as Anze Kopitar said yesterday, the Kings will be facing a speedy Avalanche team.
As part of our pre-game coverage we asked five Los Angeles players to do some Word Association using the names of four Colorado players. Like usual, this was all done one-on-one, so no player heard what the other guy said – which a tad bit interesting when you compare their answers…
– On Gabriel Landeskog:
Kyle Clifford – Swede
Drew Doughty – Does everything, whether it’s PK, power play, he just does everything
Anze Kopitar – Skilled
Jake Muzzin – Hard player
Dustin Penner – Archangel Gabriel
– On Matt Duchene:
Clifford – Skilled
Doughty – Fast, skilled, gotta keep an eye on him
Kopitar – Speed
Muzzin – Fast
Penner – ‘Duchesne again? Is that Duchesne again?’ (Don Cherry’s Rock’Em Sock’Em, Volume I)
– On Paul Stastny:
Clifford – Tounge’s out
Doughty – Two-way centermen, battles hard in the corners.
Kopitar – Playmaker
Muzzin – Skilled
Penner – Actuary, stats
– On Semyon Varlomov:
Clifford – Goalie
Doughty – Good positionally, makes the first save
Kopitar – Russian
Muzzin – Russian
Penner – KGB
Of course, the Kings will recognize Ian Laperriere during a pre-game ceremony today as well. We checked in with him earlier this week – where he talked about his speech, a few teammates and the Kings winning the Stanley Cup – click here to check it out..

For just one time you should force Doughty to give just One Word………just to see what would happen 🙂 you might want to cover yourself with plastic just in case his head explodes. 🙂 Penner’s answers always seem to paint such a vivid and twisted picture, love it. 🙂
