We’ve already heard from coach Darryl Sutter, Drew Doughty and Anze Kopitar. Now, here’s what Kyle Clifford had to say following the Kings 2-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night…
– On his goal (shown below): “Just got the puck on net and good things happen…I’d like to say that’s where I wanted to shoot but sometimes I just close my eyes and put it on net.”
– On his developing power game: “I definitely want to develop my game. I don’t want to be just a fighter so to say, and it’s just a matter of building on it. It’s about being patient and it’s going to come.”
– On almost dropping the gloves at the end of the second: “We had the momentum going our way. I fight on my terms. I think our whole team has a lot of team toughness so it just wasn’t the right time.”
– On giving the goal up late spoiling Bernier’s shutout: “You know I think coming out of this game we’re just glad that we got the win. You know other teams are going to score goals; those things happen.”
– On the crowd’s energy and being home: “You know we have a great group. Our fans are the best fans in hockey as far as I’m concerned.”
– On Jonathan Bernier: “He’s an awesome goaltender, we know that. He did a great job tonight – (and) a great job in St. Louis – good for him.”
– On the vibe against Columbus: “They’re not the easiest team to play. They play a hard style and we just want to match that and build off that.”
