On Jake Muzzin’s first NHL goal: “I didn’t know it was his first goal NHL goal until after he scored it. But, he hit the net, you know? We talked about that yesterday; the importance of defensemen hitting the net.”
On Drew Doughty’s play of late: “I think our defense is solid. They played good all three games. All six of them, honestly. If you look at it we haven’t given up a whole lot other than on the power play. So, we need them to be solid. As I said yesterday, we need Davis (Drewiske) to replace Greene and we need the kids to give us the minutes.”
On eight different Kings recording points tonight: “I think they need some more. I don’t think eight is going to win you many games. We still have some guys that aren’t…We’ve got some work to do.”
On Kyle Clifford’s play of late: “Gives them some energy.”
On Jake Muzzin’s plus-4 tonight: “Well Johnny (Stevens) is keeping them against who he wants to keep them against. You know that makes a difference, and it’s not so much that I’m interested in plus-minus; I’m interested in quality shifts, right? It’s more important in the top-end of our lineup. It’s not going to change because we won tonight. The top-end of our lineup has to still be better. Simple.”
