VIDEO: Willie Mitchell finally gets his Day with the Cup

Defenseman Willie Mitchell has given us some great quotes since signing with the Kings two summers ago. However, it’s a conversation from late this past season that ended up being one of the more popular articles we’ve done with him. Just as the playoffs were kicking off, we published a feature piece on Mitchell that began with the quote “I really do believe we’re a team that has a shot at winning it all.”

Near the end of that article, the 35-year old native of British Columbia added some punch to things – not just with a statement, but something more akin to a longing being described by person who felt their life was incomplete. You could not only hear it, you could feel it when Mitchell said, “I want a day with the Stanley Cup!”

That conversation seemed to hang in the air over the next two months – until we asked him about it after the Stanley Cup parade and he gave us this interview with tears in his eyes.
