Legend has it that Kings GM Dean Lombardi told defenseman Drew Doughty ‘You’re going to win me a Stanley Cup’ on the podium at the 2008 NHL Draft, after selecting him second overall out of the OHL. Along the way, Doughty has shown flashes of brilliance, but seemed to put it all together in the Finals this year. With two assists in the series deciding Game 6, he finished tops among defensemen in postseason assists (12), points (16) and plus-minus (+11). He also tied for first among blueliners with four goals. Coming up big when his team needed him most, Doughty topped all scorers during the Stanley Cup Final with six points (two goals, four assists) in six games.
