POLL: LA Kings 3-stars and second round MVP

May 7, 2012 By John Hoven

We’ll have a bunch of comments from the Kings players and GM Dean Lombardi up on the site throughout the day today – yet, first, we need to hear from you. After LA’s first round win over Vancouver, MayorsManor readers voted the 3-stars of the series as Jonathan Quick, Dustin Brown and Jarret Stoll. Quick also won the MVP poll, capturing 70% of the votes. Now, we turn to the just completed sweep of the St. Louis Blues. Before you vote though, let’s take a look at some stats:

Brown – led all players with 18 hits and tied for the lead with six points (2 goals, 4 assists)
Drew Doughty – one goal, three assists, led all players with a plus-6 rating and in total ice time
Anze Kopitar – two goals, four assists, plus-5 rating, led all players with 14 shots
Dustin Penner – one goal, four assists, plus-5 rating
Mike Richards – two goals, three assists, plus-5 rating, won more than 52% of face-offs taken, Gordie Howe hat trick in game three
Justin Williams – two goals, one assist, plus-2 rating
Quick – 4-0 record, 1.75 goals against average, .927 save percentage

Who deserves the recognition of being named the 3-Stars of the Series?

Please make three selections…

Also, who was the MVP of round two for the Kings?

Polls close Wednesday, May 9 at 10am PST.

Jonathan Quick set the tone for this series. During the first 10 minutes of Game 1 the Blues were all over the Kings and Quick made save after save. He was great the whole series and has been all season. Therefore the second round MVP is Jonathan Quick. The 4-0 record, 1.75 GAA, and .927 save % backs that up.

I would like to put in a vote for:

    Point Machine Matt Greene.

While it’s hard to make an argument for him to be the MVP, and may not crack a lot of people’s top 3s, he certainly deserves an honorable mention, in my book. Many are familiar with his offensive contribution (a point in every game of the StL series), but he and Pickles are the rocks of our dominant PK, he’s staying out of the box (6 PIMs total in the playoffs), has provided great support for young Marty, and is a +3 to boot.

honorable mention: Pia Toscano… not having to endure Davis “Look, my eyebrows never move” Gaines set the tone 🙂
