MayorsManor Live Radio – Kings v Blues playoff preview show

April 28, 2012 By John Hoven

Are you ready?  It’s game day!

The Kings are in St. Louis to kick off their second round series vs. the Blues and we have a jam packed show for you to help preview things.

Both teams came into the league in 1967 when the NHL expanded from it’s ‘Original Six’ and added ‘the Second Six.’ However, the Kings and Blues have only met twice in the playoffs in that nearly 45-year period.

Way back in 1969 they squared off for the first time – and like now, it was also in the second round.  We’ll look back at the series with Ted Irvine.  We’ll ask him about Eddie Joyal, ‘Cowboy’ Bill Flett and considering his son Chris Jericho is a pro wrestler, we’ll find a connection there too.

Joining me as co-host this week is Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period.  He and I will debate all the match-ups in the second round – including the battles out east between the Rangers and Capitals, as well as the Devils and Flyers.  We’ll give you our predictions on all four of the second round match-ups and talk more Kings vs Blues than you’ll find anywhere else!

Among our other guests this week, we’ll catch up with Luc Robitaille, Rob Blake, Ian Laperriere – all there played in the 1998 series between the Kings and Blues.  And if you don’t know the history there, game three included a very controversial play between goalie Jamie Storr, Sean O’Donnell and Geoff Courtnall.  We’ll talk about it from all angles.  We’ll also get some predictions from Luc and Lappy on what to expect in this year’s series.

ESPN’s Dave Joseph, a regular guest on the MayorsManor show, will be stopping by too.  He’ll share a few predictions and give us his analysis on what’s to come in game one.

Plus, we’ll also hear some exclusive thoughts from Jeff Carter, Jarret Stoll and Matt Greene.

If that’s not enough, the voice of the Kings, Bob Miller, will check in with his preview of the series and some thoughts on what went down in 1998.

But, things kick off with a bang at 11am PST when we welcome in Hall of Fame writer from the LA Times, Helene Elliott.

It’s another can’t miss show and it’s all right here for your listening enjoyment…

We’ll be back next week with another LIVE show.  Hope you’ll join us!

In the meantime, check us out on twitter and facebook for all the latest LA Kings news.
